Student Workshops

The theme of the workshop is the Krakow Flower Market Stall – an element of urban identity. The task refers to the historical and cultural presence of flower sellers in Krakow’s Main Market Square. Workshop participants will be tasked with creating a contemporary interpretation of the stand – a functional, aesthetic element integrated with public space and the historical and cultural context of the city of Krakow.

Objective

  • To design a modern, functional, and aesthetic market stall for Krakow’s flower sellers, inspired by the tradition, history, and identity of the city.
  • Reflection on the role of small architecture in the city’s public space
  • Development of design skills of architecture students, integration of the academic community, and creative search for contemporary design solutions in an urban context.
  • Integration of architecture students from all over Poland around a joint design project.
  • Exchange of experiences, development of creativity and teamwork skills.

Participants

  • The workshops are open to architecture and art students from all over Poland.
  • Participation is free of charge, but places are limited (registration is required).

Staff and Tutors

  • The workshops will be led by experienced architects involved in design practice and teaching.
  • Participation of tutors from Poland and abroad – practitioners and lecturers.
  • Cooperation with representatives of SARP and local municipal institutions.

Effects and Results

  • A collection of conceptual designs for Krakow flower stands will be created – presented in the form of an exhibition accompanying the Biennale.
  • The most interesting works will be published and promoted in industry media.
  • Possibility of further cooperation with the city of Krakow on the implementation of selected concepts.
